Meet the 2010 TRIAD IDOL quarter-finalists!
Greensboro, N.C., April 14, 2010 — Building on the excitement of the first five seasons —when over 3,500 singers from the ages of 8 to 72 auditioned—the Community Theatre of Greensboro (CTG) is kicking off the sixth edition of TRIAD IDOL. Once again, the singing contest is open to people in three age groups: 8-12 years old, 13-18 years old, and 19 and older.
In a change from previous years, 2010 preliminary auditions will be held at the Greensboro Cultural Center (200 North Davie Street in downtown Greensboro) on Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2.
Singers from across the region are invited to share their talents in this exciting contest. While most participants live in the Triad, over the past few years, some have come from as far away as Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia.
“It’s so exciting to wonder who will be crowned the 2010 Triad Idols,” said CTG Executive Director Mitchel Sommers. “Every year we meet incredibly talented performers—starting with kids as young as 8, high school and college students, young working people, parents, and even grandparents and great-grandparents. While many of our contestants sing in their church choir or school chorus, I’m always surprised how many have never performed anywhere but in the shower! With TRIAD IDOL, CTG gives people a chance to share their gifts with a large and appreciative audience. In fact, many TRIAD IDOL contestants have gone on to perform in CTG main-stage productions and professional (paying) productions across the Triad.”
