2011 TRIAD IDOL & CT-Glee Winners

Congratulations to the 2011 Triad Idols and runners-up, and to the first-ever CT-Glee winners and runner-up!



8-12-Year-Old Age Group

Congratulations, Brandi Alden, the 2011 Triad Idol!

Ten-year-old Brandi Alden traveled to be part of TRIAD IDOL! She lives in Cornelius, where she’s in fourth grade at J.V. Washam Elementary. A TRIAD IDOL finalist in both 2009 and 2010, Brandi has performed the national anthem for the Charlotte Bobcats, Charlotte Knights, and at Davidson College. At both the final and semi-final events, Brandi sang, “The Impossible Dream,” from Man of La Mancha.

Congratulations, Mary Kimball Osborn, the first runner-up!

Mary Kimball Osborn of Greensboro may be only 10 years old, but she’s had a wealth of performance experience! A fourth-grader at St. Pius X Catholic School, Mary Kimball has taken dance classes for six years and voice lessons for two years. At both the final and semi-final events, Mary Kimball sang, “Tomorrow,” from the musical, Annie.

Congratulations, Cole Covington, the second runner-up!

Twelve-year-old Cole Covington of Clemmons comes from a very musical family—his parents and his two older brothers are also musicians! Cole plays both the guitar and trumpet and he has sung with the Piedmont Opera, Winston-Salem Youth Chorus, and Winston-Salem Symphony. A sixth-grader at Hanes Magnet School in Winston-Salem, Cole sang, “Never Say Never,” at both the final and semi-final events.

 


13-18-Year-Old Age Group

Congratulations, Maria Reginaldi, the 2011 Triad Idol!

Fourteen-year-old Maria Reginaldi lives in Greensboro, but is an 8th-grader at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point. She also performed at the final event with Joy, a CT-Glee ensemble from Wesleyan. Maria loves to sing, dance, act, and shop! She has performed in several musicals at school as well as with CTG, including The Wizard of Oz, Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Les Miserables, and The Sound of Music. At both the final and semi-final events, Maria sang, “On My Own,” from Les Mis.

Congratulations, Adrian Fullerwinder, the first runner-up!

Eighteen-year-old Adrian Fullerwinder of Greensboro may be finishing up his senior year at Southern Guilford High, but he already has his sights set on UNC-Charlotte, where he’s planning to major in Social Work so he can work with the mentally disabled. Adrian is a praise and worship leader at Central Assembly of God in Greensboro. He sang, “It Is Well With My Soul,” at both the final and semi-final events.

Congratulations, Taylor Beyrer, the second runner-up!

Taylor Beyrer is 13 years old and lives in Greensboro, where she's an 8th-grader at Kernodle Middle School. A TRIAD IDOL finalist in 2010, Taylor participates in All-County Chorus, and has performed in CTG’s production of The Wizard of Oz and as Violet Beauregard in CTG’s production of Willy Wonka. Taylor sang, “Cry Me a River,” at both the final and semi-final events.

 

19-and-Older Age Group

Congratulations, James Liebmann, the 2011 Triad Idol!

Greensboro's James Liebmann, who was the first runner-up in TRIAD IDOL 2010, loves classic movies, classic books, and classic music. The youngest of five children, James enjoys hanging out with his niece and six nephews. He’s currently attending Guilford Tech, where he’s majoring in Communications. Of course, James sang a classic—“You’re Nobody Till Somebody Loves You"—at both the final and semi-final events.

Congratulations, Bobby Pittman, the first runner-up!

Singer, songwriter, and actor Bobby Pittman of Greensboro—also known as “Bobby Epic”—has participated in TRIAD IDOL all seven years. He was the second-runner-up in 2008 and the audience favorite in 2009. Bobby just finished his run in CTG’s production of Periphery and is in rehearsals for Hairspray. At the final event, he also performed with Floetry-in-Motion, a CT-Glee ensemble. Bobby sang, “I Want You Baby,” from Dreamgirls, at both the final and semi-final events.

Congratulations, Natoya Dingle, the second runner-up!

Without question, Natoya Dingle is the greatest fashionista ever to grace TRIAD IDOL! She grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, and graduated from South Carolina State University with a B.S. in Psychology. Natoya lives in Charlotte and works as a visual merchandise manager for Forever 21 at Concord Mills. She sang, “Respect,” at both the final and semi-final events.

 

CT-Glee Ensemble

Congratulations, UNCG Sapphires, the 2011 CT-Glee winners!

A non-profit women’s a capella group whose members are actively involved in student affairs on campus as well as in the greater Greensboro community, the UNCG Sapphires strive to support local arts, music, and women’s organizations through singing. The Sapphires regularly participate in regional and national competitions, and they’ve recently released their sophomore album, Tempest. Their alumnae have gone on to become vocalists, teachers, and business leaders—and some have even started their own professional a capella groups! The Sapphires hold a great place in the collegiate a  capella community, and the group is consistently ranked as the top female group in the south. The Sapphires sang, "Beautiful Liar," "Center of Attention," and "Rockin' Robin," at the final event.

 

Congratulations, Vocal Motion ELITE, the runner-up!

Vocal Motion ELITE is the top ensemble of the three groups that make up the Vocal Motion Show Choir program at Artistic Motion Studio in Greensboro. This competitively-auditioned community show choir includes some of the best high school talent from across the Triad. Directed by Denise and Marshall Johnson, Vocal Motion ELITE performed, “I Gotta Feeling,” at the final event.
