Highlights from 2007

June 20, 2007

Thanks to everyone who participated in the "People's Choice" contest, sponsored by the News & Record! The contest ran on gotriad.com from June 12 - June 17, 2007, and thousands of text-message votes were cast! Congratulations to our three "wildcard" finalists—they received the most votes and will be competing on June 23, alongside the other 40 finalists:

Elizabeth Boger, 8-12-year-old age group
Matrisha Stafford, 13-18-year-old age group
Ashley Davis, 19+ age group

The atmosphere will be electric on Saturday, June 23, at 6 pm as the 43 TRIAD IDOL finalists take the stage at War Memorial Auditorium at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.  Who will be crowned the 2007 Triad Idols? Remember, the audience counts for the "fifth judge"—accounting for 20% of each finalist's score—during the Final Event. So come out and support your favorite contestants. Who knows? Your vote may help them be crowned the 2007 Triad Idols!

What a whirlwind weekend for the TRIAD IDOL semi-finalists! The audience at the Odeon Theatre really enjoyed watching and listening to 42 semi-finalists ages 8-12, 42 semi-finalists ages 13-18, and 50 semi-finalists ages 19-and-older. The judges and the audience (whose votes accounted for 20% of each contestant's final score) had an incredibly tough job! But at the end of each semi-final event, the finalists were announced:

12 finalists, ages 8-12
15 finalists, ages 13-18
13 finalists, ages 19+

Thanks to the innovative "People's Choice" contest being hosted by the News & Record, the three contestants with the next-highest scores in each age group are in the running to compete on June 23 as "Wildcards." Go to www.gotriad.com from June 12 - June 17, 2007 to see video clips of each potential Wildcard singing "Happy Birthday." Text message your votes to see which Wildcard in each age group will take the stage on June 23 at War Memorial Auditorium!

June 23, 2007 will be a night to remember! Click here for information on buying tickets.

The semi-finalists are busy practicing their 2-minute songs for their events on Saturday, June 9, and Sunday, June 10! In the semi-final and final rounds, contestants sing to a karaoke CD—no more a capella! The talent is extraordinary—the best we've ever seen at TRIAD IDOL—so come out to the Odeon Theatre at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex and cheer on your favorite contestants!

The four onstage judges account for 80% of each contestant's score, with audience serving as the "fifth judge" and making up the remainding 20%.  By voting for your favorite contestants ($1/vote), you will help them move forward to the Final Event at War Memorial Auditorium on June 23, 2007.

May 23, 2007

The dust from TRIAD IDOL quarter-finals has finally settled! Because the 341 quarter-finalists were so talented, the judges had to make some tough calls when choosing our 2007 TRIAD IDOL semi-finalists. Please join us at the Odeon Theatre for the semi-final rounds:

June 9 @ 2 pm: 50 semi-finalists ages 8-12 will compete
June 9 @ 7 pm: 62 semi-finalists ages 13-18 will compete
June 10 @ 2 pm: 72 semi-finalists ages 19 and older will compete

Be sure to support your favorite semi-finalists! In the semi-finals, the audience serves as the "fifth judge," which means that audience support is worth 20% of each contestant's score. By voting for your favorite contestants ($1/vote), you will help move them forward to the TRIAD IDOL Final Event on June 23 at War Memorial Auditorium.
